NHTA is committed to the safeguarding agenda and this is supported internally by a robust set of policies and procedures which ensure that we are creating an environment where our learners are able to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve their goals and economic wellbeing. In addition we encourage our learners to make a positive contribution to their communities.

All staff are qualified in safeguarding procedures and we have a Designated Senior Person who is trained in all aspects of safeguarding and child protection and is able to support our learners through a wide range of difficult personal situations.

Employers are made aware of their Safeguarding responsibilities via regular visits from NHTA tutors and via newsletters and monthly "hot topics". Safeguarding is an integral part of the learner journey here at NHTA and learners are provided with the knowledge and techniques to help keep themselves and those around them safe. These are reinforced during the induction process and whilst at the academy and during reviews at their place of work.

NHTA works closely with a number of local and national partners to share good practice and actively promote the safeguarding agenda.
